Residents in unincorporated parts of Los Angeles County are invited to weigh in on their local park and recreation needs and priorities at two upcoming community meetings, as part of the ongoing Los Angeles County Park Needs Assessment.
Tonight’s meeting, for residents who live in the unincorporated communities of Agua Dulce, Saugus, Bouquet Canyon and San Francisquito Canyon, will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Agua Dulce Women’s Club, located at 33201 Agua Dulce Canyon Road.
Residents who live in the unincorporated communities of Stevenson Ranch, WestRidge, Southern Oaks, Sunset Pointe and Newhall will have an additional opportunity to participate in the process on Feb. 25, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in the IHOP meeting room, located at 24737 Pico Canyon Road.
In February 2015, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a joint motion by Supervisors Michael D. Antonovich and Mark Ridley-Thomas to initiate a community-driven process to assess park and recreation needs and priorities throughout the county, including incorporated cities and unincorporated communities.
The Park Needs Assessment will increase our understanding of existing park and recreation assets, and help us to determine how to improve, expand, and make them more accessible. By engaging all communities within the county in a collaborative process, the data and input gathered will be used for future decision-making on parks and recreation. A final report will identify, prioritize and outline costs for potential park projects within each study area.
