The federally subsidized senior housing complex on Wiley Canyon Road in Valencia is about to get a makeover.
On Tuesday the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, acting as the county Housing Authority, is expected to award a $922,940 contract and authorize $184,498 for cost overruns for improvements to the 183-unit Orchard Arms apartments.
According to a staff report, the work includes: repair or replacement of wrought iron fencing and wood balcony panels; concrete repaving, new concrete curbs and railings; replacement of parking striping and wheel stops, address numbers and signage; exterior painting and application of deck coating; a new roof access door; replacement of damaged gutters and downspouts; repair of concrete foundation walls; and flooring replacement in common areas including all accessories and associated work.
The project is entirely federally funded. The contract is to be awarded to the lowest qualifying bidder, California Averland Construction of downtown Los Angeles.
