Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information for the Week of 08/17/15 to 08/23/2015

Here’s a look back at the crimes reported in the Newhall area last week:

On Monday, August 17, 2015, between the hours of 2:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m., an apartment was burglarized in the 23500 block of Newhall Avenue. The resident left the garage door open slightly and the interior door unlocked. Electronics were stolen.

Also on Monday, August 17, 2015, between 3:45 p.m.- 4:00 p.m., an attached garage was burglarized in the 23500 block of Newhall Avenue. The resident had left the garage door open, and his vehicle that was inside the garage was unlocked. A laptop computer and tools were taken.

On Wednesday, August 19, 2015, between the hours of 7:45 a.m.- 4:45 p.m., an apartment was burglarized in the 24100 block of Evans Avenue. A rear glass door was shattered to obtain entry and several pieces of jewelry were stolen.

Between the time frame of Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., and Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 10:30 p.m., an apartment was burglarized in the 23700 block of Via Canon Drive. A window was removed to obtain entry and several musical instruments and other personal property were stolen.

On Sunday, August 23, 2015, between the hours of 8:00 a.m.- 10:00 p.m., an apartment was burglarized in the 23600 block of Newhall Avenue. The items taken included a guitar, a laptop computer, cash, and some shoes. The suspect also damaged several electronic items by pouring water over them. There was no evidence of how entry was made.

Between Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 10:30 p.m., and Monday, August 17, 2015 at 7:00 a.m., a camper shell on a pick-up truck was burglarized in the 22700 block of 8th Street. A window on the shell was shattered to get in. A dark blue mountain bike was taken.

Between Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 9:15 p.m., and Friday, August 21, 2015 at 3:00 p.m., a sports utility truck was burglarized near Dockweiler Drive and Bottletree Lane. A window was shattered to obtain entry. The second and third row seats of the vehicle were taken.

There were two adults arrested in the Newhall area last week. One adult was arrested for a domestic violence charge and the other adult was arrested for public intoxication.

Remember to lock your doors and windows, don’t leave packages or valuables in plain view, and be aware of your surroundings. Be a good neighbor and report suspicious behavior.
