Community volunteer, financial advisor and Gold Star father Dante Acosta has officially announced his candidacy for Santa Clarita City Council in the April 2014 election.

Mr. Acosta believes in a common sense approach to government and will work hard at helping businesses create more jobs to ensure a bright economic future for our children.

“My wife and I moved to the Santa Clarita Valley 27 years ago when we were first married, 2 years before the City of Santa Clarita was born. We made our home here, we work here and are raising our family here. It is a special place and I want to do my part to insure that the future of Santa Clarita is even brighter than it’s past. I am concerned about where our children will work and live if we don’t pursue continued economic vitality for Santa Clarita. I will work hard at attracting new businesses to the city while helping current businesses grow and create more jobs. It is also important that we continue to ensure the safety of our citizens, and that Santa Clarita continues to be a desirable place to call home. One of my strengths, having worked as a financial advisor, will be to keep an eye on the budget to help maintain Santa Clarita’s financial strength”.

Dante Acosta became a Gold Star Father after the loss of his son, U.S. Army SPC Rudy Acosta who was killed in Afghanistan 2 years ago and has been a successful financial advisor for over 20 years. Since the death of his son, Mr. Acosta has been an outspoken advocate for our military’s force protection protocols.

He is an active community member and volunteer in Santa Clarita and lives in Canyon Country with his wife Carolyn, and their two children. His volunteer associations have included: member of the Rotary Club, Docent at Wm S. Hart Museum, Drama Advisor and Event Chair at Santa Clarita Christian School and has also served on boards for philanthropic and professional organizations.
