At the start of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors’ meeting Tuesday, Dec. 4, Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger will present an official proclamation to honor Hall of Fame broadcaster Jaime Jarrín for earning the 12th spot in the Ring of Honor at Dodger Stadium.
Jarrin, who turns 83 on Dec. 10, began with the Dodgers in 1959, their second season in Los Angeles, and has agreed to a multi-year contract extension through 2020 — his 62nd season.
Jarrín is the voice that generations of Spanish-speaking Angelenos throughout Los Angeles County associate with baseball. He taught many of our immigrant communities about baseball, helping convert the Dodgers into one of the most popular sports franchises in history.
The presentation will take place in the Board of Supervisors’ Hearing Room, 500 W. Temple Street, Los Angeles 90012.
Jorge Jarrin, son and fellow Dodgers broadcaster, will join his father for the occasion.
The public is invited to attend.
