1864 - Actor William S. Hart born in Newburgh, New York [Hart Index]

You could say that Jack Dudeck saved the best for last – the last tournament of the fall, that is.

After finishing in a fourth-place tie on the first day of the Lake Tahoe Intercollegiate on Monday, the sophomore fired a three-over par 75 a day later to win the event on the Incline Village Championship Golf Course.

It was the first collegiate win for the local product from West Ranch High School.

Asked what did winning his first tournament mean to him, Dudeck said, “It means a ton. All the hard work and countless hours I’ve put in have finally paid off.”

“Jack had great perspective over the two days,” said TMU head coach Jacob Hicks. “The course played quite difficult, but he said, ‘I love this course and how challenging it is.’ ”

“That kept him in the moment and ultimately led him to his first collegiate victory.”

Dudeck’s two-day, seven-over par 151 was two shots better than three other golfers, including two from team champion Northwest Christian of Eugene, Oregon.

The Mustangs finished in second place, 21 shots behind the Beacons.

Junior Josh Kehl finished ninth, nine strokes behind Dudeck with a 16-over 160 and freshman Mitchell Briley was two shots back in twelfth place.
