Santa Clarita Valley deputies are seeking a man accused of taking pictures of women in a Target dressing room last year.
Ricky Alexander Torres, 21, was placed under a citizen’s arrest in November after a woman accused him of taking pictures of her in a Target changing room.
Torres was working at the Target on the 19100 block of Golden Valley Road, where the alleged victim notified store employees, officials said.
The district attorney’s office initially declined to file charges, pending further investigation.
On Wednesday, at the conclusion of a months-long investigation, detectives called for Torres to be arrested on two counts related to Section 647(j)3(a) of the Penal Code, aka “invasion of privacy”:
“Any person who uses a concealed camcorder, motion picture camera, or photographic camera of any type, to secretly videotape, film, photograph, or record by electronic means, another, identifiable person who may be in a state of full or partial undress, for the purpose of viewing the body of, or the undergarments worn by, that other person, without the consent or knowledge of that other person, in the interior of a bedroom, bathroom, changing room, fitting room, dressing room, or tanning booth, or the interior of any other area in which that other person has a reasonable expectation of privacy, with the intent to invade the privacy of that other person.”
He was not in custody as of midnight Wednesday, according to Sheriff’s Department online arrest records.
Detectives put out a $50,000 warrant out for his arrest.
Online court records indicate the suspect had a previous conviction for a similar offense.
Torres has a previous conviction for a violation of Penal Code section 647(A), which is a disorderly conduct charge, on March 20, 2013, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court records.
Torres was charged with indecent exposure near a local elementary school.
He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, according to court records.
