Santa Clarita Youth Baseball League and Facey Medical Group gathered for an interactive information session on how children can prevent sports injuries.
Emily Schwartz, M.D. took to the field to give a group of 10 to 12-year-old boys safety tips for playing baseball.
James Nuttall, Santa Clarita Youth Baseball President, said that the most important thing is keeping the children safe from injuries.
“We wanted Facey to be involved with what we’re doing with protecting these young arms,” Nuttall said.
“We want to teach these kids a game of baseball, but our primary concern is their health and their well-being.”
Schwartz stressed the importance of a proper warm up and taking rest days in between practices. Failure to do so increases the chance of injuries.
After Schwartz addressed the large group, parents had the opportunity to speak with her one-on-one about their children.
“We feel this partnership with Santa Clarita Youth Baseball and Facey Medical is invaluable,” Nuttall said.
