Is your business up to date on all of the latest changes to the federal and state employment laws? If not, or if you simply need a review of the latest changes, then join District 12 of the Professionals in Human Resources Association for a breakfast meeting on Thursday, Feb. 13. Check-in/Breakfast – 7:30 a.m.  Meeting – 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Brian Koegle from Poole & Shaffery LLP will shed light on the recent legislative changes, administrative decisions and case law pertaining to employment law applicable to California employers. The meeting will be held at Embassy Suites, 28508 Westinghouse Place, Valencia, CA 91355.

The 2014 Employment Law Update presentation is open to the public and the cost (including breakfast and 2 hours of HRCI credit for human resources professionals) is as follows:

* $55 per person – Early Registration Discount

* $50 each for 3 or more from the same company

* $65 each for individual registration

* $75 at the door

Due to the popularity of this event, reservations are recommended.

During the presentation, Mr. Koegle will provide insight and practical suggestions to ensure compliance with all of the new legal requirements.  Among the topics to be covered are:

* A review of the 2013 legislation, case law and administrative decisions affecting employers;

* An update on wage and hour laws, meal and rest period requirements, overtime compensation and calculations, reasonable accommodation laws and employee privacy; and,

* An overview of upcoming and anticipated legislative changes and court cases for 2014.

The Professionals In Human Resources Association (PIHRA) is the largest global chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management. Representing more than 3,500 individual members from over 2,500 companies, PIRHA is organized into 16 (local) districts, serving communities in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties. Incorporated in 1945, PIHRA is dedicated to the continuous enhancement of human resources through networking, learning and advocacy.

Brian E. Koegle is a partner in the employment and labor law department of Poole & Shaffery LLP. With a focus on labor and employment law, he provides counsel to employers in a large number of industries with regard to hiring practices, employment contracts, wage and hour issues, compensation, discipline and termination matters. Mr. Koegle is a member of the Labor and Employment Sections of the California State Bar and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, an Associate Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, and a member of the Defense Research Institute.  Mr. Koegle has been recognized as a Rising Star by SuperLawyers/Los Angeles Magazine in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
