[SCV Chamber] – The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Myers, Widders, Gibson, Jones & Schneider, LLP and Chick-fil-A to bring the latest 2012 employment law updates to business owners and managers.
This important seminar will be held Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 8:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the Chamber’s offices at 27451 Tourney Road, Suite 160. Admission is FREE, but space is limited, so reservations are suggested.
The keynote speakers – attorneys Roy Schneider and Steven P. Lee – will help business operators navigate the dangerous waters of employment law as they face the new year with new rules and increased penalties for non-compliance.
Topics include meal breaks (the Brinker decision), increased penalties for misclassification of independent contractors, independent contractors safe haven, new employee rights under California Family Rights Act and Pregnancy Disability Leave, commission sales agreements, employee and applicant credit checks, notice of pay requirements, gender expressions, social media do’s and don’ts, Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, defending a new employee who is sued by a former employer and much, more.
The SCV Chamber’s goal has always been to educate the business community by informing them of new laws, providing a refresher course on commonly made mistakes and errors to ultimately help reduce their liabilities and/or set up a defense should they be faced with a lawsuit.
Check-in is from 8 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. Breakfast will be provided by Chick-fil-A. Join the SCV Chamber for this informative, essential seminar. RSVP by calling the chamber office at 661-702-6977 or visit www.scvchamber.org.
