In an effort to help Santa Clarita residents prepare for the heavy El Niño rains, the Los Angeles County Fire Department will be hosting a free sand bag event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016.
El Niño has been predicted to hit the region this winter and spring and residents are encouraged to stop by to learn how to prepare for El Niño.
The event will take place at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center, located at 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway.
Los Angeles County firefighters will be on site passing out FREE pre-filled sand bags, while supplies last. A limit of 10 bags per household has been placed to ensure sand bags are available to as many attendees as possible.
The event will also offer residents the opportunity to talk to a firefighter about how to best prepare for El Niño, pick up a free copy of the Los Angeles County Emergency Survival Guide, and guidance on how to properly place sand bags around their home.
