UPDATE 2:19 p.m.
“(The cause of the fire was a) traffic accident on the 14 freeway in a southbound lane that went into the hillside,” said Assistant Fire Chief Gregory Hisel. “One patient was injured and transported to the hospital, but at the time (the crash) caused a brush fire that ended up being about 4.1 acres.”
About 100 firefighters, Angeles National Forest and Los Angeles City Department of Water and Power were on scene, he said.
UPDATE 2:04 p.m.
The fire is now 100 percent contained, officials said. Officials are on scene investigating the cause of the fire. Crews are now in the an “extensive” mop-up phase.
UPDATE 1:06 p.m.
The right three lanes of the southbound SR-14 are closed, according to CHP and Caltrans.
The fire is currently at 1.5 acres with 70 percent containment, officials said. One patient was transported to a local area hospital.
UPDATE: 12:45 p.m.
Traffic is backed up past Newhall Ave., according to the Caltrans.
No structures are threatened and no injuries have been reported, said Inspector Rick Flores with the LACoFD.
[KHTS] – Los Angeles County firefighters are responding to a vehicle fire that has caused a brush fire on the southbound SR-14 Freeway near the SR-14/ I-5 connector.
California Highway Patrol officers are closing off the far right lane on the southbound 14.
The call came in at 12:07 p.m. on scene 12:08 p.m., officials said. The fire is about 1.5 acres moving uphill.

I drove by this when there was just smoke coming out from under the hood and the driver was outside of the vehicle. It was a black and blue security patrol car.
