Though the Foothill League boys soccer schedules seem to have been trying to catch up to reality this week, there are still some glitches relating to Castaic. However, these don’t seem to be confusing the results. In both girls and boys leagues, the leaders’ heals are being nipped, and the next couple weeks will reveal all that we may only speculate on now.

BOYS

Saugus (10-4-1, 8-1)

Saugus defeated Canyon 1-0 on Jan. 20, but then tripped over Valencia 1-3 on Jan. 22 for its first league loss. Saugus is still solidly in first place in the Foothill League, but will tilt with the league’s number three, four and five teams over the close of the season, so nothing is locked.

Next week the Centurions host West Ranch (#5) on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 5 p.m., then visit Hart (#4) on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 5 p.m. The final league game will be hosting Golden Valley (#3) on Monday, Feb. 2 at 5 p.m.

Valencia (8-4-2, 6-2)

Valencia is running hot lately, on a streak of five victories, with four of those in league play. The last two include a 5-0 scolding of Hart on Jan. 20 and a (surprising to some) 3-1 win over league-leading Saugus on Jan. 22. This gives the Vikings a tight grip on second place in league, but anything is possible over the last four league matches.

The first two of those will be hosting #7 Castaic on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 5 p.m. and hosting #5 West Ranch on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 5 p.m.

Golden Valley (7-5-1, 4-3-1)

The schedule righted itself since our last look, and now shows Golden Valley defeating Castaic 1-0 on Jan. 22 for the needed match that didn’t show before.

Next week the Grizzlies will host #4 Hart on Tuesday, Jan. 27 and then visit #6 Canyon on Thursday, Jan. 29. Both games are at 5 p.m.

https://www.maxpreps.com/ca/santa-clarita/golden-valley-grizzlies/soccer/winter/

Hart (5-3-4, 3-2-3)

The Hart schedule seems to be in flux, jumping two results for one game played since our last look, but does indicate that Hart took a blow from Valencia on Jan. 20, losing 0-5.

Though there is still a missing result (apparently a victory) against Castaic hiding somewhere, the schedule shows that Hart will visit #3 Golden Valley on Tuesday, Jan. 27 and then host #1 Saugus on Thursday, Jan. 29. Both matches are at 5 p.m.

https://www.maxpreps.com/ca/newhall/hart-hawks/soccer/winter/schedule/

West Ranch (6-5-3, 4-3-2)

Since our last look, the West Ranch schedule materialized a victory over Castaic 2-1 on Jan. 20, plus a 1-1 tie in the previously-scheduled match with Canyon on Jan. 22.

The Wildcats will visit #1 Saugus on Tuesday, Jan. 27 and visit #2 Valencia on Thursday, Jan. 29. Both matches are at 5 p.m.

https://www.maxpreps.com/ca/valencia/west-ranch-wildcats/soccer/winter/

Canyon (2-12-4, 0-6-3)

Canyon lost to Saugus 0-1 on Jan. 20 and then tied West Ranch 1-1 on Jan. 22.

With three league matches left, Canyon first hosts #3 Golden Valley on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 5 p.m.

https://www.maxpreps.com/ca/canyon-country/canyon-cowboys/soccer/winter/schedule/

Castaic (0-11-2, 0-8-1)

The Castaic schedule took our advice and materialized the results of three matches. Unfortunately, they were all losses, which might explain the reluctance to provide stats. The last two of these were losing to West Ranch 1-2 on Jan. 20 and then Golden Valley 0-1 on Jan. 22. And there is still a missing game result (apparently a loss) with Hart that needs to show up.

Next week the Coyotes will visit #2 Valencia on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 5 p.m.

GIRLS

Hart (9-7-1, 7-0-1)

The Hawks are still undefeated in league play, but had a tie with Valencia 2-2 on Jan. 20 that may loom large soon.

This week Hart hosts #7 Golden Valley on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 5 p.m. and visits #2 Saugus at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29. The latter could change or solidify first-place standings.

Saugus (11-4-2, 8-1)

Saugus swatted Canyon 7-2 on Jan. 20 and then got past Valencia 3-2  on Jan. 22.

Poised for a run at first place in league, the Centurions will visit #3 West Ranch on Tuesday, Jan. 27, and host #1 Hart on Thursday, Jan. 29. Both important games are at 5 p.m. and the Hart match could be huge.

https://www.maxpreps.com/ca/saugus/saugus-centurions/soccer/girls/winter/

West Ranch (7-5-2, 5-3-1)

West Ranch had two 3-0 wins last week, Castaic on Jan. 20 and Canyon on Jan. 22, which moved the Wildcats into third place in league.

West Ranch hosts #2 Saugus on Tuesday, Jan. 27 and #4 Valencia on Thursday, Jan. 29, both at 5 p.m. Either or both games could make waves.

https://www.maxpreps.com/ca/valencia/west-ranch-wildcats/soccer/girls/winter/

Valencia (3-6-3, 3-3-2)

Valencia tied Hart 2-2 on Jan. 20, putting the first blemish on Hart’s league results. Then the Vikings lost to Saugus 2-3 on Jan. 22, which further threatens the league leaders.

But Valencia will be more concerned about moving itself up the standings when it visits #5 Castaic on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 5 p.m. and #3 West Ranch on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 5 p.m.

https://www.maxpreps.com/ca/valencia/valencia-vikings/soccer/girls/winter/

Castaic (5-6, 4-5)

Castaic lost to West Ranch 0-3 on Jan. 20 but then punched Golden Valley 6-0 on Jan. 22.

Next week the Coyotes will host #4 Valencia at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

https://www.maxpreps.com/ca/castaic/castaic-coyotes/soccer/girls/winter/

Canyon (4-11-1, 1-8)

Canyon lost 2-7 to Saugus on Jan. 20 and lost 0-3 to West Ranch on Jan. 22.

Next week the Cowboys will visit #7 Golden Valley at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29. Canyon could pick up its second league win or the Grizzlies the team’s first.

https://www.maxpreps.com/ca/canyon-country/canyon-cowboys/soccer/girls/winter/schedule/

Golden Valley (1-17-2, 0-8)

The Grizzlies may or may not have had a non-league match against Heritage Christian on Jan. 19. No score has been reported. But the Coyotes did take a 0-6 lost to Castaic on Jan. 22.

Next week Golden Valley will visit #1 Hart at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27 and then host #6 Canyon at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29.
