roadclosuresplanaheadDue to weather concerns, the Amgen Tour of California Stage 6 Men’s and Women’s Time Trials have been relocated from Big Bear Lake to Santa Clarita on Friday, May 15. Road closures will be in effect between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Feedmill Road, the southbound lanes of The Old Road, Turnberry Lane and the southbound off-ramp from the I-5 Freeway to Rye Canyon Road.

A full closure of Feedmill Road, between the Magic Mountain Amusement Park parking lot and The Old Road will be in effect, along with the southbound lanes of The Old Road between Magic Mountain Parkway and Turnberry Lane. A full closure of Turnberry Lane from the Old Road to approximately 600 feet west of the Old Road will also be in effect, with access to the front of the office building at 27202 Turnberry Lane. During the trials, the southbound off-ramp from the I-5 Freeway to Rye Canyon Road will also be closed. Most closures are expected to be re-opened by approximately 5:00 p.m.

Residents and businesses are strongly urged to utilize SantaClaritaTourofCA.com for detailed traffic information, and social media for minute-by-minute updates on road closures and openings at Facebook.com/CityofSantaClarita, Facebook.com/SantaClaritaTourofCA and Twitter.com/SantaClarita.

Due to closures, motorists traveling during the time of the event may be delayed. While cyclists race through town, emergency response vehicles will have unimpeded access to the entire Santa Clarita Valley for the duration of the event. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies will be deployed along the route to help ensure public safety for participants and motorists, and will enforce posted road closures.

For information on impacted traffic during the Amgen Tour of California Stage 6 Time Trials, call (661) 250-3787.

For additional details or questions about the Amgen Tour of California, contact Evan Thomason, Santa Clarita Economic Development Associate, at (661) 286-4167 or ethomason@santa-clarita.com.

This tour is bringing revenue into our city, personally I am grateful SCV has the opportunity to be a host to the Amgen tour every year. It’s a couple days, it could be worse, no one could want to come here

What time does the time trial begin?

  10. It took my son 1hr 15 min to get home to Saugus from COC. Poor guy. He was so frustrated.

  11. Sara Jones says:

Also, in all fairness to the City, Terry Prather, I do not know of anyone who can pre-plan for snow in Big Bear in May that could possible change the route for a race like this. Seriously, think before you complain. I think it is a great thing to have something like this come to our City even though we may be inconvenienced for a few hours with road closures.

  12. Jeanne says:

If you get stuck just stop and enjoy the race.
Don’t bother fighting it. Go into any coffeehouse, store, etc. and just wait it out.

We can always use the money in SCV from this event. Relax a little. I work on Turnberry Lane and will be working around this today too.
I leave work around 2:30 for Saugus so I will have to practice what I preach:)

  13. John says:

Great Day for bike Racing will be fun to watch
