A suspect remains at large after a robbery and attempted rape Thursday morning in Canyon Country.
The incident occurred in the 18000 block of Sundowner Way at 8:15 a.m. when a woman returned home to her condominium and parked her car in the garage. As she left the garage she encountered a man in an exterior hallway.
The man is described as Hispanic, age 25 to 30, about 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds. He was wearing a red shirt and red beanie, with a black jacket and black shorts.
The man assaulted the victim and sexually battered her but did not rape her, according to a report from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“Throughout the incident the suspect strangled the victim,” the statement said. “When the victim fought back the suspect stole the victim’s purse and its contents. He then fled the location through the condominium complex and out of view.”
Moments before the attack, the same suspect was seen in the area exposing himself to another victim. That offense was not reported to the authorities until after the other assault occurred.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Campbell at the SCV Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
