I remember going on field trips. Getting on the bus, pairing up with a friend, the brown bag lunch, and enjoying being out of class for a day. Memories of fun times gone. I guess eventually we will all take vacations like this
too.
I doubt your class went to the Galapagos islands or the Great Barrier Reef! My nieces class in Connecticut did a virtual field trip with a guide at the Great Wall of China. What a great way to inspire kids to travel rather than have them look at pictures in a book.
You are right. We never went to either locations. I agree with you about inspiring kids to travel too instead of looking at pictures in a book. The field trips I went on were to Catalina Island, whale watching in Ventura, many zoos, museums, Missions and other cultural events. Of course this was back in the 70’s in elementary school. I was just trying to say in my post that schools are getting away from taking kids to places like the Getty Museum and instead doing the virtual reality thing.
Remember when they said 2015 would be the year for VR? I remember.
