The Hart School District Administrative Center has moved into a new 31,000 square foot office building located at 21380 Centre Pointe Parkway in Santa Clarita. The previous office was located on the same street and was built in 1990 when the district was serving approximately 10,000 students.
The previous one-story district office was opened in May 1990, when the district had an enrollment of less than half its current enrollment. At that time, the district had three comprehensive high schools, three junior high schools, Bowman High School and Learning Post High School. This school year, the Hart School District has nearly 23,000 students in six junior high schools, six comprehensive high schools, an early college high school, three alternative schools and a home school program.
This move also marks the consolidation of three buildings, which included the 17,000 square foot district office, a 45,000 square foot warehouse / office on Spirit Court and a 5,000 square foot District Copy Center, occupying the original Canyon Country Library space on Soledad Canyon Road.
The consolidation of the three buildings into the new two-story building, plus an annex on the same property, provides efficiencies including, district staff all in the same building, as well as a larger board room, technology enhancements, training rooms and space that will provide for future expansion. The annex adds 14,240 square feet to the new two-building complex and will house the District Copy Center as well as training rooms and meeting space.
The combined previous three buildings totaled approximately 67,000 square feet, with the two new buildings totaling 45,240 square feet of usable space, reducing the net square footage by nearly 18,000 square feet. This consolidation and reduction in space is projected to contribute to energy efficiencies, as well.
“We are happy be in a space that can effectively house all district employees in all our departments, while creating a board room, training and meeting rooms that will better serve our community and staff for meetings,” Rob Challinor, Superintendent said.
The new district office complex was built by Jim Backer of locally-owned JSB Development, with Midwest Partners. All three buildings are for sale. For information contact Ben Rodriguez, Chief Operations Officer at 661.259.0033.
The Hart District’s phone number remains the same at 661.259.0033.
