Joining the Mustangs in 2013 is local product McKinley Kane of Newhall.
Currently leading the Indians as a team captain, the three-year varsity veteran leads the squad as their forward, and will look to continue that role for the Lady Mustangs. Additionally, also competes on the Indians’ track & field squad in both the 100-meter & 200-meter events.
In her junior campaign with the Indians, Kane contributed to a 13-4-5 season (7-2-1 in Foothill League play) with 1 goal, 2 assists, and eight shots.
“I’m excited that McKinley is joining us in the fall,” comments Mustang coach Curtis Lewis. “The energy she brings on the field is just phenomenal and her sound technical fundamentals are something that any coach would be excited about. She’s the type of player that will run through a brick wall and has sort of a feistiness and brightness to her play. I can’t wait to see how she grows as a Mustang.”
Kane’s background with Mustang Athletics runs deep as her father, Tim (1988), played for TMC’s baseball team, and is a member of the Mustang Athletic Hall of Fame. More recently, her brother-in-law, former TMC catcher Bryan Lucas (2012) was a three year performer for the Mustangs’ baseball team.
With plans to major in either Business Administration or Communication for a desired career in management, the future Lady Mustang looks to excel both on and off the field in her college career.
“I’m ready to grow in my time at TMC, I can’t wait to see what the Lord is going to do in my life,” says Kane.
TMC went 12-6-2 in 2012, finishing 6-4 in the Golden State Athletic Conference. The Lady Mustangs ventured into the postseason by making it to the semi-finals of the GSAC tournament before falling to conference rival Vanguard 2-0.
