Washington, DC – Congresswoman Katie Hill (D-Santa Clarita) will serve on the powerful House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, per Tuesday night’s announcement from the Speaker’s Office.
“If we want our government to once again start working for the people, and to deliver for our communities, we desperately need accountability and reform,” Hill said. “Serving on Oversight is an honor, especially in my first term, because we will have the ability to implement much-needed changes to ensure those entrusted with public service are also deserving of public trust.”
The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is the main investigative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. It has authority to investigate the subjects within the Committee’s legislative jurisdiction as well as “any matter” within the jurisdiction of the other standing House Committees. Hill will serve with five of her fellow freshman members.
It was also announced Tuesday that Hill will serve on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, in addition to her previously announced assignment on the House Armed Services Committee.
“Aerospace is the backbone of my district’s economy — we are home to a NASA base, one of the nation’s leaders in aerospace manufacturing, and we are critically placed to be on the forefront of environmental and scientific innovation,” Hill said. “My committee assignments position me to advocate for my district in ways that will have real impacts on people’s lives. I could not be more honored to have this opportunity to fight for our community.”

I don’t know how much of an honor it is. Ocasio Cortez was stuck there too. I think senior members of Congress wanted newbies with little ability to really KNOW who is crooked or investigate in this position. They can be manipulated. Saw Hill following Cortez around like a puppy last week playing “Where’s Waldo” looking for Mitch McConnell like 2 idiots.
Be honest, if this was a Republican appointee you’d be thrilled.
Hill is one now one of the most powerful freshmen in Congress and you run a campaign photo of her in work clothes, standing next to a truck? A little respect for the Congresswoman, please.
