Artwork submitted by community members as part of the first annual City of Santa Clarita Holiday Card Contest will be showcased in the Floor Gallery at City Hall from Monday, December 5, 2011 to Monday, January 2, 2012. The winning illustration, submitted by Amanda Chakur, was used as the design for the City’s 2011 holiday card.
Sixteen community members of various ages submitted original works that best reflected the 2011 theme, “Peace on Earth.”
“It was exciting working with our community’s artists to develop this year’s card and we welcome our residents to take a few moments to enjoy the submissions on display at City Hall throughout the holiday season,” said Mayor Marsha McLean.
The holiday card contest was designed to encourage community participation in the arts, while contributing to the aesthetic value of public places. The “Peace on Earth” exhibit is one of five changing public art galleries sponsored by the City of Santa Clarita. The other four galleries are located at Westfield Valencia Town Center.
