In a creative effort to provide socks to the homeless, Family Promise SCV will be participating in a national sock collection drive for local homeless people. One sock two sock, red sock blue sock. It doesn’t matter the color, we want your donation of new socks.
Spearheaded by the internet sensation “Kid President,” the national sock drive aims to raise awareness about the homeless and help keep their feet warm this winter.
“We are encouraging residents and businesses in the Santa Clarita Valley to help collect new socks to donate to our local homeless community. We would love to see residents get their workplaces and congregations involved by collecting pairs of socks,” said Laurie Ender, President of Family Promise SCV.
“This is a great project to do as a family, with schools and neighborhoods; we’re encouraging everyone to participate in this national collection drive,” she said.
Once participants collect socks, they should call Family Promise of SCV to schedule a pick-up or drop-off! (661) 251-2868. Family Promise will deliver the socks to those who need them the most.
Family Promise is a local, non-profit organization. The organization’s mission states: By mobilizing community faith groups in the SCV to assist homeless families, Family Promise works to achieve sustainable independence for our guests while offering hope, compassion, and preserving individual dignity.
