SAN JOSE – Vince Fernandez delivered a blast and a bunt to help the JetHawks come from behind to beat the San Jose Giants, 7-6, and end their four-game losing streak on Saturday evening at Municipal Stadium.

Fernandez, playing near his hometown of Livermore, tripled to put Lancaster on the board in the first inning and homered to help his club claw back to a tie in the sixth inning. But the left fielder’s final contribution with the bat, a sacrifice bunt, led directly to Lancaster’s game-winning run in the eighth inning.

Roberto Ramos started the eighth with a double off the top of the wall in right field, his second double of the night. Fernandez, who had already totaled 6 RBI in the series, bunted Ramos up to third. Brian Serven followed with a sac-fly to bring home the go-ahead run.

Justin Lawrence struck out the side in the eighth inning to set up closer Reid Humphreys. The Giants loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth on two walks and an infield single, but Humphreys struck out Matt Winn to end the game and pick up his league-leading seventh save.

Heath Holder (2-0) threw a perfect seventh inning of relief to earn the win.

Lancaster’s bullpen totaled five scoreless innings in relief of starter Ty Culbreth. The lefty, who went 7-1 with a 3.13 ERA in 12 games for the JetHawks in 2017, missed the first quarter of the season due to an injury and allowed six runs on nine hits over four innings in his debut.

Fernandez had started the scoring for Lancaster (17-19) with a two-run triple in the first inning. Willie Abreu added a run in the second by singling, stealing two bases and coming home on a caught stealing play at second base.

The Giants (21-15) responded with two runs in the bottom of the second and three more in the third. Their final run scored on a Culbreth wild pitch in the fourth.

Ramos led off the sixth inning with a double and came home on Fernandez’ two-run home run. Two batters later, Willie Abreu tied the game with a solo shot, his fifth home run of the season.

CJ Gettman (0-1) took the loss in relief for the Giants.

The four-game series continued on Sunday at 1 p.m. Matt Dennis (2-5) started against Logan Webb (1-2) in San Jose.
