LANCASTER – The JetHawks took care of business Thursday night, beating the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, 9-3, in the finale of a three-game series at The Hangar.
With the victory, Lancaster is tied with Rancho atop the second-half standings in the South Division.
The offense stole the show early, scoring six runs in the second inning. Five different JetHawks drove in a run in the inning. Ryan Vilade and Taylor Snyder each had run-scoring doubles. Five of the six runs were charged to Rancho starter Michael Grove (0-5).
Will Gaddis (pictured above, 7-7) evened his record with a quality start, allowing three runs over six innings. The JetHawks got a quality start in all three games versus Rancho.
Rancho Cucamonga (23-18, 64-45) homered twice to account for all three of their runs. They got within three of Lancaster, but the JetHawks (23-18, 57-52) pulled away with three runs late.
Vilade led the way on offense, going 3-for-4 with three runs batted in. The JetHawks did not hit a home run, but they did have 11 hits in the win.
Lancaster is now 16-9 versus Rancho Cucamonga. The JetHawks are tied atop the Second Half standings with the Quakes. They are 41-25 against divisional opponents.
The six-game homestand continues Friday, as the JetHawks kick off a three-game series with the Modesto Nuts. Lefty Ryan Rolison (4-6) gets the ball for Lancaster against Modesto’s Austin Hutchison (3-9). First pitch at The Hangar is 6:35 pm.
