The LA SummerFest welcomes the Kander & Ebb musical “Cabaret” to the SummerFest stage at Rivendale Park for the next two weeks. Presented in cooperation with theTribeproductions, the same company that brought us the sold out performances of “Hair” last summer.
“We are very excited to have theTRIBEproductions back this year.”, says David Stears, producer for the festival. “They love what they do and it shows.”
The award winning musical is set in 1930 Berlin, when the free-love party scene of Jazz Age decadence was starting to tarnish, and the fervent nationalism of the Nazism begins to chip-away at the “live and let live” individualism of the 20s.
“‘Cabaret’ is a musical of choices.” say Christopher Chase, theTRIBES co-founder. “And how those choices can be used to positively, or negatively, effect ourselves and others.”
This young energetic company is know for fresh and exciting interpretations of theatrical work. For this production of CABARET they go back to the source material for the original musical, Goodbye To Berlin, the 1939 novel by Christopher Isherwood.
Don’t miss this production of CABARET, July 17th – July 27th
