Don’t let the heat and a houseful of relatives over the Fourth of July weekend prevent you from coming to the cool historical houses in Quester Court, located at the south end of the William S. Hart Park complex.
Come and “set a spell” in the shade on the front porch of the Kingsbury House, built in the 1800s, with a cold, refreshing glass of lemonade and delicious cookies – all for free.
Come on Sunday, July 3, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and the Questers docents will show you their pride and joy of the carefully restored houses. Get those grandchildren off of the electronic games and come play the games of your youth. Show them how you entertained yourself and your friends, how you tightened skates with a skate key, how a Whim-a-dillia works, the magic of a Jacob’s ladder, and much more from the good ol’ days.
The Saugus Train Station Historical Museum next to the Mogul No. 1629 steam engine will also be open. The SCV Historical Society lets you ring the bell.
Call the Historical Society for more information at 661-254-1275 or Heritage Reflections Questers at 661-254-0145.
