The Van Nuys Postal Customer Council is getting ready to kick off summer with its annual barbecue and open house, Thursday, June 23, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the U.S. Postal Service’s Santa Clarita Processing and Distribution Center.
The Van Nuys PCC represents businesses in the Santa Clarita and Los Angeles area that work both with and in the mailing industry, and provides educational resources, networking and access to Postal Service officials. Tickets for the barbecue and open house are $35. Admission is free for first-time PCC event attendees. The event will also include a variety of great raffle prizes.
“Our annual barbecue is a wonderful time of networking for PCC members, but we also always want to ensure there is the added value of education and information,” said Ramela Younekian, co-chair of the Van Nuys PCC board of directors. “I think people will come away from this event very satisfied.”
The June 23 event will include roundtable sessions with Postal Service officials, covering several areas:
How a direct mail piece can affect a business’ ROI
Important things to know about mail piece design
Mail piece acceptance guidelines
How Postal Service operations affect mail delivery
Choosing the Postal Service over other parcel carriers
The open house will include tours of the Postal Service’s sprawling Santa Clarita Processing and Distribution Center, which processes more than a million pieces of mail daily. The center is the main Postal Service mail processing facility for the Sierra Coastal District, which covers 35,000 square miles and includes 12 counties and 11 million people. The Processing and Distribution Center is located at 28201 Franklin Parkway. Attendees should enter through Gate 4.
