KIDZ BOP announced Monday that television and film star, Jennette McCurdy , will be the 2013 KIDZ Star USA celebrity mentor. KIDZ Star USA is America’s biggest online talent search for kids 15 and under. Aspiring young singers can enter now for their chance to win an RCA Records recording contract online and in person. Now through August 30, kids can upload a :90 second performance video to KIDZBOP.com. For the first time ever, kids can also audition live at select Six Flags Theme Parks across the country. The Official KIDZ Star Live Audition Tour kicked off at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ on June 22. The tour is traveling to 10 Six Flags Theme Parks throughout the summer, wrapping up on August 18 at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA. Auditions and activities are free with paid park admission.
KIDZ Star fans can view contestants’ audition videos and progress on KIDZBOP.com, where they will be able to interact with their favorites, vote, and rally support to help determine who will make it to the final rounds. Fans can also keep track of the competition by watching KIDZ Star Rewind , a weekly KIDZ Star feature highlighting the best audition videos of the week. Four finalists will be flown to Hollywood to compete on stage at a Six Flags Magic Mountain finale event on September 28 where Jennette McCurdy will make a special appearance and help determine who will be crowned the next KIDZ Star. The 2013 KIDZ Star USA winner will be announced in October.
Best known for her comedic portrayal of Sam Puckett on the mega-hit series iCarly, Jennette McCurdy continues to emerge as one of entertainment’s most sought after and engaging talents. She recently wrapped production on the original TV movie SWINDLE along with lending her voice in the upcoming animated feature film ALMOST HEROES. A singer/songwriter, McCurdy released her debut album in 2012 which features several tracks co-written by the performer. Her single, “Generation Love”, was released to country radio in Spring 2011.
