Before the Lady Mustangs’ 2012-13 campaign has even begun, fifth-year women’s basketball coach Dan Waldeck is already looking ahead to the future. The recent signing of Prairie High School’s current senior stand out shooting guard Megan Lindsley affirms Waldeck’s ambitious game plan for the coming years.

In her time at Prairie under the tutelage of renown basetball coach Al Aldridge, located in Vancouver, Washington, Lindsley earned First Team all-league and all-region recognition in her freshman year. In addition, the future Mustang was named the squad’s 2011-12 most improved player in her junior year when she averaged 12.8 points per game, four rebounds per game, and a season total of 244 points. Notably, in her game against Fort Vancouver on December 14, 2011, the shooting guard set a school record by sinking 10 three-pointers in one game . Lindsley also earned first-team kudos in both the ‘End of the Trail’ and ‘Music City Madness’ summer tournaments. Off the court, Lindsley has received Prairie’s scholar athlete award for the last three years.

While Lindsley’s impressive high school resume caught the attention of coach Waldeck, it was her love for the Lord and passion for people that made it evident she was a great fit for the Mustangs.

“She’s got a tremendous work ethic and an exceptional ability to communicate with teammates,” Waldeck says of the new addition. “She’s obviously a fantastic scorer and that’s where I see her playing in the coming years. All of that was confirmed when our coaching staff got to see her love for the Lord, her heart for people, the love of the game of basketball, and academics. I really don’t think there’s a ceiling of what she can achieve.”

With plans to pursue a career as a nutritionist, Lindsley anticipates the many opportunities TMC has to offer that will allow her to learn more about the word of God and refine her faith alongside other believers.

“The Christian environment at The Master’s College is really what stood out to me. I really fell in love with the campus and appreciated the impact that the coaching staff has in the lives of the players here,” says Lindsley.  “I’m excited to be here. I’m excited to grow in God’s word and play quality basketball.”

For now, The Lady Mustangs will be showcasing a younger squad in the approaching 2012-13 campaign. Waldeck and his squad will begin their season as the Mustangs will travel to Cal State Northridge for an exhibition game on Friday, November 2, for a game against the Matadors.
