The Master’s University volleyball team improved its 2017 record to 2-4 after beating Providence Christian College 3-2 (25-14, 19-25, 21-25, 25-11, 15-6) at home on Bross Court.
“Tonight’s match was all about adaptation,” TMU Head Coach Allan Vince said. “There are many different ways that a coach trains his players, but training to adapt to unforeseen circumstances is saved expressly for the athlete. Tonight’s match, with the roar of the crowd, the unfortunate injuries in the first game, and playing an opponent that we had a little to no information on, created the exact environment where our athletes had to learn to adapt through adversity.”
After battling through five hard-fought sets, TMU’s Jane Cisar posted an evening-high 14 kills, while Kayla Sims tallied 34 assists.
Elsewhere, Rebecca Davis and Sims each tallied 13 digs, while McKenna Hafner and Mackenzie Delo each posted 11 digs. Collectively, TMU finished the evening with a .257 attack percentage.
“There were many new faces in the starting lineup tonight, and athletes playing different positions, and yet they came together when it mattered the most and were victorious as a team,” Vince said. “As always, I am very proud of these Lady Mustangs.”
Here’s the box score.
Looking ahead, the Lady Mustangs will return to Bross Court on Tuesday, August 29, for a 7 p.m. match against La Sierra University.
