LANCASTER – The Lancaster JetHawks suffered another tough defeat Saturday, losing to the Stockton Ports, 12-3, at The Hangar.
The JetHawks fell into an early hole and could not come back. It is the team’s fourth loss in a row.
Stockton (22-32) scored four runs in each of the first two innings to go on top, 8-0. Lucas Gilbreath (2-3) was knocked out of the game in the second inning, after allowing eight runs on eight hits. It’s the second night in a row that Lancaster’s starter hasn’t gotten out of the second.
Lancaster (27-27) got on the board in the third. Ryan Vilade (pictured above) drove in a pair with a double in the third inning, but the JetHawks only scored one more run in the contest.
Seth Martinez (2-3) got the win for the Ports after pitching three innings in relief of starter of Xavier Altamirano. Both teams used five pitchers in Saturday’s contest.
The Ports had 18 hits for a second-straight night, tied for the most allowed by Lancaster in a game this year. Seven Ports had multi-hit games.
The JetHawks have dropped four in a row and five of their last six games. The team is back to .500 at 27-27 overall. The Ports have taken the first three games in this series after the JetHawks swept Stockton in early May.
Lancaster needed a win Sunday afternoon to recover from the tough defeat and avoid a sweep.
