Between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, May 16, several street closures will be in effect throughout Santa Clarita for the 2016 Amgen Tour of California.
Over 100 cyclists participating in the Amgen Tour of California will race into Old Town Newhall in Santa Clarita from South Pasadena for the Stage 2 Finish on Monday, May 16. Local roads will close prior to cyclists entering the City and will re-open once they have passed through sections of roadways.
The City strongly suggests residents plan ahead, if possible, between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon. Most closures will be between 20 and 40 minutes, although times may vary and other delays could occur. A schedule of estimated times for closures and re-openings can be found online at SantaClaritaTourOfCA.com. Impacted roads include:
* Placerita Canyon (Sand Canyon to Sierra Highway)
* Sierra Highway (Placerita Canyon to The Old Road)
* The Old Road (Sierra Highway to Calgrove Boulevard)
* Calgrove Boulevard (The Old Road to Wiley Canyon)
* Wiley Canyon Road (Calgrove Boulevard to Lyons Avenue)
* Lyons Avenue (Eastbound to Newhall Avenue)
Other closures include parts of Main Street and a full closure of westbound Lyons Avenue from Railroad Avenue to Chestnut Street.
Residents should be advised that all emergency response vehicles will have unimpeded access to the entire Santa Clarita Valley at all times during the race, as the safety of residents and spectators alike is the number one priority to both the presenters of the race and all agencies involved.
