Here is a list of Santa Clarita arts-related events for March 22-24:

March 22: ARTree Speaker Series – Michael Powell at The MAIN
Time: 7:00 p.m.

Michael Powell is an artist and musician, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of ARTree. For the past few years he has assisted with and instructed art classes for the ARTree. He joined the ARTree because of how the other instructors seemed to enjoy teaching children from the community. Michael is very passionate about art and music, saying; “if you can see it, you can draw it and if you can hear it, you can play it.”

The ARTree Speaker Series presents fascinating lectures plus free-form discussions with influential artists and leaders who bring art, arts education, and exceptional projects to the diverse Santa Clarita Valley community. Speakers will inspire and motivate your appetite for creativity. It is held January to October on the fourth Thursday of the month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. FREE Admission.

Time: 3:00 p.m.

Join us for an afternoon and evening of activations of the House of Glass, newly constructed on the CalArts campus as part of a semester-long reconsideration of Alison Knowles’s 1967-71 House of Dust project. Current faculty, students, and guest artists will perform pieces scored or inspired by Knowles and other Fluxus artists who once taught at CalArts. Knowles herself will participate in performances of her iconic scores Newspaper Music and Make a Salad. Presented and sponsored by the CalArts MA Aesthetics and Politics Program and Art by Translation in collaboration with the MAK Center for Art and Architecture and France Los Angeles Exchange (FLAX). Curated by Maud Jacquin, Sébastien Pluot, and Janet Sarbanes.

Time: 8:00 p.m.

On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend – almost – in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.
