SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – An exciting season awaits The Master’s College men’s basketball team as its 2015-16 schedule has been announced.
“Our pre-conference schedule is very challenging with games against Cal State San Marcos, Azusa Pacific, Cal Poly Pomona, and Fresno State,” commented second-year TMC men’s basketball head coach Ken Sugarman. “Our November tournament at Westminster (Utah) should also be a very good test for us. These games, among others, will help prepare us for conference play where it looks as tough as ever.”
Highlighting the Mustangs’ 2015-16 campaign are six games against three Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) opponents that are ranked among the NAIA’s top 15 teams: No. 3 Westmont (Feb. 2, Feb. 18), No. 4 Hope International (Jan. 14, Feb. 13), and No. 15 Arizona Christian (Jan. 16, Feb. 4).
Earlier in the season, TMC will compete in a high-profile exhibition at NCAA D.I Fresno State on December 3. Tipoff against the Bulldogs is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Save Mart Center.
The Mustangs are also slated to take on four other NCAA teams. On October 31, TMC will host NCAA D.III Cal Lutheran in a scrimmage. Seven days later, TMC will welcome NCAA D. II Cal State San Marcos to Bross Court for the season opener (the first of 17 home games). On November 20, the Mustangs will travel to NCAA D.II Azusa Pacific, and four days later, TMC will host NCAA D.II Cal Poly Pomona.
Notably, the Mustangs are scheduled to appear in three tournaments durring the 2015-16 season. On November 13-14, TMC will travel to Vallejo for the Cal Maritime Tournament and face the host team and Simpson. Two weeks later (Nov. 27-28), TMC will travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, and compete in the 2015 Westminster Basketball Tournament. Finally, the Mustangs will host Central Methodist (MO) and John Brown University (AR) in the two-day TMC Holiday Tournament starting December 29.
Fans can get a preview of this year’s 12-man roster at the second-annual Blue/Gold game on October 30 at 7:00 p.m. on Bross Court.
