Longtime Valley Industry Association member and community volunteer Ed Masterson has been appointed to serve as the organization’s board chair for 2016.
Masterson is the head of sales and marketing for SOS Entertainment. A frequent emcee for various community events and fundraisers in the Santa Clarita Valley, he was field representative for then-Assemblyman Cameron Smyth from 2006-2010. He will succeed current 2015 board chair Anna Frutos-Sanchez.
“Ed has been a longtime supporter of VIA and is passionate about the organization, in addition to being very community-minded,” VIA President and CEO Kathy Norris said. “We are very excited that he has accepted the appointment, and I am convinced he is going to be a vibrant leader for the board in 2016.”
A graduate of California State University, Fullerton, Masterson spent 15 years with Universal Studios as a VIP Tour Guide and production coordinator, in addition to working as a screenwriter. After serving as field representative for Smyth, R-Santa Clarita, he was the interim head of the SCV Chamber of Commerce prior to joining SOS Entertainment. Masterson is a longtime member of the VIA board. Additionally, he sits on the boards of the WiSH Education Foundation, the Child & Family Center Advisory Board, and he was a longtime member of the SCV Chamber of Commerce board.
“It’s an honor that they would trust me to serve in this position. I love the people on the board, and the business community is near and dear to my heart,” Masterson said. “Kathy is a phenomenal leader, and I am looking forward to helping VIA maintain consistent forward momentum in building vital relationships among its members.”
Masterson has lived in Santa Clarita since 1988 with his wife, Valerie. They have two children; a son, Gage, 18, and a daughter, Elizabeth, 14.
