Sam Eisenhuth carded a 3-under par 69 Monday afternoon to lead The Master’s University to the first-day lead at the TMU Spring Invitational played at the Sand Canyon Country Club.
The Mustangs shot a combined 6-over 294 on the 72-hole course, taking a seven-stroke lead over Marymount in the 10-team field.
“We are grateful for a solid round in tougher conditions,” said Mustang head coach Jason Semelsberger. “We were one score away from a really good one.”
Those “tougher conditions” included an early frost that delayed the start of the event for an hour.
That affected play for the rest of the day, eventually forcing a suspension of the second round that will be completed on Tuesday along with rounds three and four.
The conditions didn’t affect Eisenhuth, a senior from Embarrass, Minnesota, and junior Robert Penalber, who shot an even-par 72.
