CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Master’s College women’s soccer team scored a season-high two goals in a 3-2 loss to the NCAA D.III Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens Tuesday afternoon in Claremont.
The loss moved TMC’s 2015 record to 0-3-1.
After facing an early 2-0 deficit, TMC’s Lynnae George (Mill Creek, WA) put the Lady Mustangs on the board at the 24:25 mark by scoring off a joint assist from Taylor Rowden (Mission Viejo, CA) and Victoria Gama (Riverside, CA).
Nearly 20 minutes later, Jasmine Parada (Santa Clarita, CA) tied the match at 2-2 with 1:38 left to play in the first half after connecting with a dual assist from Jenae Garcia (Paramount, CA) and Anna Brazil (Potter Valley, CA).
At the break, the Sagehens outshot the Lady Mustangs 9-6.
After intermission, TMC’s offense competed with a renewed sense of urgency as the Lady Mustangs outshot the Sagehens 5-3 in the second half. However, Pomona-Pitzer’s Danika Bethune connected with Peri Cuppens at the 57:40 mark to put the Sagehens up 3-2.
Despite more pressure applied in the second half, the Lady Mustangs were unable to recover from Bethune’s goal and were handed their third-straight loss of the season.
TMC now looks to snap its three-game losing streak when it opens its home schedule on Saturday against No. 20 Northwest (WA). Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m. at Reese Field.
