SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – After three quick sets (25-17, 25-19, 25-19), The Master’s College volleyball team beat the William Jessup Warriors and improved its 2015 record to 9-5 and 2-0 in GSAC play.
Set one featured a tenacious Lady Mustang attack that never once let the Warriors take the lead or force a tie. However, the Warriors forced TMC to fight through multiple point deficits and ties in the second and third sets.
Aubrey Pyburn (Sun Valley, CA) led TMC’s scoring attack with 12 kills, while Maryah Richberg (Santa Clarita, CA) was close behind with 11. Aubrey Bekendam (Orland, CA) posted 32 assists, and Emily Clark (Lake Forest, CA) notched 12 digs.
Collectively, TMC posted a .333 attack percentage, 50 digs, 45 kills, and 43 assists.
“Our game plan today was to start strong, and our girls did just that by coming out with their “A” game,” commented TMC head volleyball coach Allan Vince. “We need to play like this against all of our conference rivals so that we can achieve the goals that we’ve set this season. We have now had two nights of consecutive high attack percentages, and need to continue to excel on first ball side out. I really like the momentum we have going into next weekend’s matches.”
Looking forward, the Lady Mustangs will hit the road next weekend and take on Arizona Christian on Friday at 4:00 p.m. (PDT) and San Diego Christian on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
