My College Mentor is a new Santa Clarita business that helps guide students and parents through the complex process of college planning and athletic recruiting.
“We were united by a common goal: to improve children’s lives by generating opportunities for higher education,” said founders Sharon Koppenhaver and Christine Headlee.
There is a college for every type of student. My College Mentor works with individual students and their parents to identify the school that fits their educational goals – within the family budget.
With 2,474 four-year colleges and universities in the United States, enrollment sizes can range from 38 students at Alaska Bible College to 59,794 students at Arizona State University. My College Mentor encourages beginning the selection process as early as the seventh grade.
“The earlier you plan for the college admissions process, the more opportunities there will be for your student,” said Koppenhaver and Christine Headlee, who noted that the average high school counselor-to-student ratio in the United States is 1:457.
My College Mentor offers informational workshops and one-on-one mentoring in the Santa Clarita Valley. My College Mentor helps students with academic planning, identifying career interests, college searches, athletic recruiting, college transfers, personal statement reviews, essays, applications, financial aid and more. My College Mentor offers something for every family’s budget.
My College Mentor will hold its next free workshop Thursday, April 19, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at NorthPark Community Church, 28310 Kelly Johnson Parkway, Valencia-Santa Clarita. For more information visit www.mycollegementor.com.
