[News Release] – The City of Santa Clarita will host an Open House Meet and Greet to introduce the community to Captain Roosevelt Johnson, Santa Clarita’s new Chief of Police. The event will be held on Wednesday, April 16, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Century Room at City Hall, located at 23920 Valencia Boulevard.
Captain Roosevelt Johnson was recently named as Santa Clarita’s Police Chief, replacing Sheriff’s Captain Paul Becker who retired in February. Captain Johnson brings nearly 23 years of law enforcement experience with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to his new post.
Prior to being named Captain of the Santa Clarita Valley Station, Captain Johnson held assignments at Pitchess Detention Center-North Facility and Century Station, West Hollywood, Custody Administration and the Training Bureau. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2005 and assigned to Lennox Station, Custody Operations Division headquarters – Chief’s Aide and Internal Affairs Bureau. In August 2009, Captain Johnson was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to North County Correctional Facility, Altadena Station and North Patrol Division headquarters – Executive Aide.
Captain Johnson holds a Master of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Chapman University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
The Open House Meet and Greet for Captain Roosevelt Johnson is free and open to the public. No RSVP or registration is required to attend.
