A Newhall man arrested for an attempted kidnapping in a Newhall home pleaded no-contest to a child molestation charge, officials said Tuesday.
Yensi Aguilar, 22, accepted the charge of attempted lewd acts with a child under 14, said Ricardo Santiago, spokesman for the District Attorney’s office.
Aguilar pleaded down to the child molestation charge as part of his negotiated plea from his July arrest. The court views a no-contest plea as a guilty plea.
He’s expected to face three years in state prison and register as a sex offender for life when he’s sentenced next month.
Aguilar, considered “an acquaintance” with the family of the victim, entered the victim’s home without permission, grabbed the victim and threatened the victim — a young girl — with sexual assault, according to Sgt. Bryan Hudson of the Special Victims Bureau of the Sheriff’s Department.
The victim’s father, who was also home, “intervened and forced the suspect out of the residence,” Hudson said, “at which time, the suspect brandished a knife at the father.”
Aguilar was arrested later that day and charged with first degree burglary with a person present, attempted forcible lewd act upon a child, assault with a deadly weapon, distributing or showing pornography to a minor, attempted kidnapping for child molestation and attempted kidnapping with a victim under 14 years old.
The terms of the plea deal were not immediately available, according to officials with the District Attorney’s Office.
Aguilar is being held without bail at the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic.
He’s due back in court Feb. 17.

Our justice system does not protect children. It’s disgusting.
