2014 - Towsley Canyon Loop Trail named for naturalist Don Mullally [story]
Don Mullally

As you may already know, we have partnered with Project Lead Kindly! Their mission is to spread a message that all people, no matter their circumstances, have the great potential within to make a difference, serve others, and “lead kindly.”

Project Lead Kindly offers various grants and awards to women or children who have been affected by homelessness or domestic violence.  One can apply through their website: www.projectleadkindly.com or be nominated by an organization.  In order to qualify for the grant or award, the individual must be receiving services from an organization or shelter, show that they are “leading kindly”, set goals to “lead kindly” in the future and must be making steps towards a stable future.  The grants or awards help women and children achieve educational or professional goals or safer, permanent housing.

A few of our clients have already received awards from Project Lead Kindly and the DVC was the recipient of Project Lead Kindly’s first project!  In December, Project Lead Kindly had a donation drive where the donations were all sent to the DVC!

We have had such a terrific experience working with Project Lead Kindly thus far and look forward to an amazing future working with them to help our clients succeed in life!

Need a Restraining Order?
Did you know the DVC can help you get a temporary restraining order?  Our Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program (DV-CAP) can help you with this and much more!  We can provide courthouse information, resources on how to prepare for court, court safety planning, support for court hearings and attorney referrals.  You no longer need to travel to Van Nuys or San Fernando.
We can write a temporary restraining order for you, explain the process for filing the restraining order and go over what happens next.  If needed, we can also send one of our advocates with you to court!
If you need an attorney referral, we have referrals for legal matters such as divorce, separation, immigration, or other family law issues.
If you or someone you know needs a restraining order, or if you aren’t sure if you can get a restraining order and you want some advice, please contact our office to make an appointment to speak with one of our DV-CAP advocates.  You can reach our office at 661-259-8175.
For more information about DV-CAP and other resources you can visit our website by clicking here.
Please note, the DV-CAP is a resource for legal information, but is not a legal firm and cannot give legal advice.

Help the DVC by making a donation!

Looking for something to do with your tax refund?  Why not make a donation to the DVC!  You can use it as a tax write off in your taxes next year!  The DVC needs your support to keep our shelter, Outreach Center and programs available to our clients.  We rely on support from the community to keep us going.  Please consider making a donation today.  And tell your friends too!  Look for the Make a Donation button on our website to make your donation today!  www.dvc-scv.org
