Linda Myers, the 60-year-old at the center of a seven hour standoff in Castaic Friday afternoon, will not be formally charged, said officials from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.
Myers barricaded herself in a senior living apartment complex in Castaic during a welfare check. Deputies continued to communicate with Myers through a closed door. During their attempts to communicate with Meyers, deputies reported to hear a gun shot and requested additional resources.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau was successful in getting Myers to emerge from the apartment. She was later taken into custody.
A search warrant was issued for Myers’ apartment and surrounding areas. Detectives were unable to locate
a firearm, a bullet strike mark, or a shell casing, according to a report from the DA’s office.
“The audio/video recording was reviewed and what sounds like a gunshot can be heard during the deputies’ attempts to check on the welfare of Ms. Myers,” the report said. “Without physical evidence, however, there is insufficient evidence to prove this case beyond a reasonable doubt.”

What did this “standoff” cost the county? Probably in excess of $10,000 when you consider all the man hours invested and whatever equipment costs were incurred. Seems like she should pay for this somehow. But no charges filed?
