Maybe you can see yourself clad in crimson on a crisp fall Saturday, shouting, “Roll Tide!”
An education at the University of Alabama offers valuable life experiences — and exciting football seasons — and it’s not just for kids who grew up in the South. If you are a college-bound high school student, or a parent of one, you can learn more about all the University of Alabama has to offer during Monday’s College Preview Night hosted by Valencia-based College Planning Experts.
“Many parents and students assume an out-of-state education is out of the question, but in most cases that’s simply not true,” says Arline Schreiber, marketing director for College Planning Experts, which specializes in helping families make their college dreams affordable. “These college preview nights are designed to show students and parents the kinds of opportunities that can be available.”
James Gilbey, the University of Alabama’s regional recruiter for the Greater Los Angeles Area, will be the featured speaker at the College Preview Night, 6:30-8 p.m. Monday at College Planning Experts, 28494 Westinghouse Place, Suite 207, in Valencia. Seating is limited and parents and students are encouraged to RSVP at www.CollegePlanningExperts.com/workshops or by calling (661) 295-9946.
Topics are expected to include admissions requirements, application procedures, scholarships, academic offerings and more.
“We’re expecting an engaging and informative discussion,” Schreiber said. “The University of Alabama is one of the top 50 public universities in the nation, and its law school is ranked 23rd.”
The University of Alabama boasts a beautiful campus and 200 academic majors, outstanding honors programs, freshman learning communities and generous scholarships and financial aid. Options for involvement are many, from championship athletic traditions and diverse volunteer opportunities to a thriving Greek system and state-of-the-art recreation center.
“As a parent of college students, I know families have many questions about the college selection and application process, and the financial aid and scholarship process,” Schreiber said. “At College Planning Experts, we help children find colleges that suit their academic and social personalities. The best way to explore a variety of universities is to visit the schools, but that can be expensive. We look to solve that dilemma by bringing colleges to Santa Clarita through our College Preview Nights.”
