Valencia-based non-profit organization SNAP Sports will host a wine tasting event at Salt Creek Grille to benefit its special-needs sports program and the Valencia SNAP Flyers hockey team on Thursday, Oct. 5 starting at 6 p.m.
Guests will be treated to a variety of select wines and delectable offerings from the Salt Creek Grille kitchen as lovers of fine wine and supporters of SNAP Sports will gather to enjoy an evening of great libations, food and conversation.
Tickets are $60 in advance and $75 at the door. The ticket includes unlimited wine tasting and a sumptuous selection of treats from the kitchen.
Proceeds from this event will help SNAP Sports — Special Needs Athletes & Peers — to continue providing quality, sports-based programming, serving athletes with special needs, in Santa Clarita.
“We are always looking for new and inventive ways to raise funds for our athletes,” said SNAP Sports Coach/Director Chris Schrage. “Salt Creek Grille has really stepped up to offer us an opportunity to reach a whole new segment of our community.”
Since 2012, SNAP Sports has provided individuals with disabilities the opportunity to engage in a variety of sports-based activities. Participants often shatter the notion of commonly held limitations, by accepting the challenge of more complex competitive sports.
Players gain confidence and poise while becoming better equipped to manage their individual disabilities. Athletes who train regularly, routinely develop the essential physical and social skills needed to improve their everyday lives.
Salt Creek Grille has long been a prominent part of the non-profit landscape in Santa Clarita, and this event is just an extension of the commitment. Proprietor Greg Amsler has a keen eye for organizations that work hard to support the underserved.
“Anytime we can use the restaurant to help local charities find their voice in the community, we are going to get behind that,” Amsler said. “The Wine Tasting is a great way for new people to discover the work they are doing at SNAP Sports. This program was conceived and executed right here in Santa Clarita…there’s something very exciting about that.”
To make a reservation for tickets, call 661-481-3032, or e-mail info@snaphocket.org, and a representative from SNAP Sports will contact you to complete your reservation. Space is limited, so reservations are recommended. For more information go to http://snaphockey.org/get-involved/.
