German auto maker Porsche is disavowing culpability in the crash that claimed the lives of actor Paul Walker and driver Roger Rodas in Santa Clarita two years ago.
“As we have said before, we are very sad whenever anyone is hurt in a Porsche vehicle, but we believe the authorities’ reports in this case clearly establish that this tragic crash resulted from reckless driving and excessive speed,” the company said in a statement Thursday.
The statement comes on the heels of news that attorneys for Walker’s daughter, 16-year-old Meadow Rain Walker, are suing Porsche on grounds that the car, a 2005 Porsche Carerra GT, lacked certain safety features.
Walker and Rodas were killed Nov. 30, 2013, in a solo car crash in the Valencia Industrial Center. According to the coroner’s report, Rodas “was driving a red Porsche Carrera GT at an unsafe speed, approximately 100-plus mph, in the No. 1 eastbound lane on Hercules Street. … For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of his vehicle, and the vehicle partially spun around, and began traveling in a southeast direction. The vehicle then struck a curb, and the driver’s side of the vehicle struck a tree and then a light post.”

This lawsuit is ridiculous.
That picture Paul admiring the car gives me chills. R.I.P
I’m a big Paul Walker fan. I also grew up with a dad that was a race car driver. Can’t blame the car. Had no business being on public roads with it.
Yes missed rip
Shawn so true. I am the neibor to the old shop, the car is not for our streets.
He took a MODIFIED performance car on the street. As sad as the situation is Volkswagen/Porsche has nothing to do with the the driver and they’re right for denying responsibility
I’d deny fault too if I wasn’t at fault.
It’s hard to maintain grip when driving on 9 year old tires. Being a professional racing driver, Rodas should have known that. Had the vehicle been properly maintained, I’m fairly confident it would have made it through the corner no problem.
