The City of Santa Clarita invites local low- and moderate-income homeowners to apply for the opportunity to receive grant assistance for necessary home repairs through the Residential Rehabilitation Grant Program. Applications may be submitted now through May 2015, while funds are available.
The Residential Rehabilitation Grant Program offers grants of up to $5,000 to homeowners within the City limits who meet specific qualifications. The funding may be used for eligible repairs to single family homes, town-homes, condominiums and mobile homes. Grant funding may not be used home remodeling or upgrades.
“The City’s Residential Rehabilitation Grant Program is an opportunity for qualified Santa Clarita homeowners to receive financial assistance to make fundamental home repairs,” said Mayor Laurene Weste. “The grants are an important part of the City’s ongoing effort to maintain and revitalize our community’s neighborhoods, directly enhancing residents’ quality of life.”
Typical allowable repairs include roofing repair and/or replacement, electrical and plumbing repairs, heating and air conditioning repairs (except window units), flooring, tile and wall repairs, modifications for disabled access, repairs needed to fix municipal code violations, and more.
All interested homeowners must complete an application, provide income documentation and submit three bids for the work desired. Applicants must also be willing and able to manage the repair process with the contractor.
