Josh Rivas and Jackie Hartmann were named the 2025 Santa Clarita Valley Man and Woman of the Year during a dinner gala held Friday, May 2, at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. The gala also paid tribute to all of the 33 nominees.
The annual award dates back to 1964 and honors outstanding volunteers nominated by Santa Clarita Valley nonprofits.
Rivas, nominated by Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley, was named 2025 SCV Man of the Year.
He is the first male member of SIGSCV and has served the philanthropic organisation in multiple leadership roles.
Rivas chaired the SIGSCV Wine Affair four times and the SIGSCV Fashion Show twice, and during the pandemic, he innovatively orchestrated a socially distanced event, the only gathering of 2020. His efforts have directly contributed to raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the organization, which works to transform the lives and status of women and girls through education, empowerment and enabling opportunities.
He is currently serving as the Director of Public Awareness and continues to drive SIGSCV’s mission forward.
Rivas is planning to run for SIGSCV president in 2026.
Hartmann, nominated by the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center, was named 2025 SCV Woman of the Year.
The Senior Center nomination submission describes Hartman as “a dependable volunteer and Board Member of the SCV Senior Center. She is a board member who walks the walk and talks the talk.”
Hartmann worked daily during the Covid pandemic at the SCV Senior Center Bella Vida Drive Thru. She became someone that the seniors could see and talk to everyday. She noticed changes in their health and behavior and was able refer them to the SCV Senior Center social services department. She continues to have a quarterly lunch with some of the seniors she met at the drive-thru.
Hartmann is currently a Meals on Wheels driver, delivering meals two days a week. Since she started with the Meals on Wheels program, she has delivered 1,200 meals.
As a Board Member of the SCV Senior Center, she has taken on the role of co-chair for the annual Celebrity Waiter Fundraising Dinner event for the past two years.
