[Sen. Runner] – College graduates who are interested in public service are encouraged to apply for the renowned Capital Fellows Program. Applications are available in Sen. Sharon Runner’s Capitol and district offices in Lancaster, Victorville and Santa Clarita.
These positions pay a monthly stipend of $1,972 plus health, vision, and dental benefits. In addition, each individual earns 12 units of graduate credit from Sacramento State.
“With the challenges facing the state, there’s no better time to serve than now,” Runner said. “This year-long fellowship allows individuals to gain hands-on experience in the State Legislature and other areas of public service.”
The Capital Fellows Programs provide college graduates an opportunity to work in high levels of government. Qualified fellows are assigned to Senators, Assembly members, judges and senior state officials. These fellowships are jointly operated by each participating branch of government and the Center for California Studies at Sacramento State University.
Anyone who will be at least 20 years of age and a graduate of a four-year college or university by September 1, 2012 is eligible to apply. There is no preferred major. Individuals with advanced degrees and those in mid-career are also encouraged to apply.
Applications can be picked up at Runner’s offices or by calling 661-729-6232. Applications and brochures are also available on the internet at www.csus.edu/calst/senate. Applications must be postmarked by Wednesday, February 22, 2012.
