The SCAA members who are in the show are: Jerry Cowart for photography; Jane Mick for oil; Jeanne Iler for watercolor; and Laurie Beth Finkelstein for acrylic.
Jerry Cowart, award-winning nature photographer said, “My photography is about seeing and experiencing the beauty around me. My journey with photography is an ongoing and ever-evolving process. What I discovered is to enjoy the moment, to slow down each day, to love the sound of the shutter, and to admire all the beauty – for in the blink of an eye it will be gone. I see the perfection in a world that is not always kind and loving. That once-in-a-lifetime moment is now caught in a photograph for all to see.” http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/jerry-cowart.html
Jane Mick started her career as a fashion designer, worked as a graphic artist and is now an award-winning fine art painter in oils. “I believe that art should stimulate the imagination of anyone who views it – whether it tells a story or creates a mood. I get my inspiration from life and the world around us. Texture also plays a big part in mywork.” www.janemick.com
Jeanne Iler began her career in Graphic Arts in Illinois. She was chosen “Hoosier Woman Artist of 2008” by Indiana Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman. Iler’s award-winning watercolors have been shown in many shows and galleries in the Midwest and California. She taught at Ivy Tech University and People’s University in Indiana and now teaches private lessons in a range of classes: watercolor, drawing, and jewelry. http://jeannerocksonline.com
Laurie Finkelstein explored a variety of mediums including clay, metal, oils, pen and ink, pastels, and watercolors, ultimately choosing acrylics and mixed media as her medium of choice. She dedicated herself to finding her voice and honing her skills to create what is now her individual style and focus. “Creating paintings of rocks, boulders and pebbles allow me to elevate the intrinsic beauty of geologic wonders,” said Finkelstein. The boulders have been in the making for millions of years yet seem unchanging. They stand as metaphors of strength and durability. My images give the viewer an alternative view of what we mostly take for granted and see only as objects to climb over, lean against, or walk by. ” http://lauriebethart.com
