1914 - Rev. Wolcott H. Evans, the future "pastor of the disaster," named pastor of Newhall's First Presbyterian Church [story]

Derek Lewis scored on a touchdown run in the first quarter and the Santa Clarita Christian Cardinals never looked back as they defeated the Vasquez Mustangs 42-0 in a non-league contest at Harry Welch Stadium Friday night.

Lewis finished with 133 yards rushing and two touchdowns.  The 6-foot, 205-pound junior has now scored four touchdowns on the season.

Cardinals quarterback Jonathan Saavedra completed 7 of 13 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns.

SCCS led 14-0 at the half, 21-0 going into the fourth quarter.

The victory is a complete turnaround from last season’s game between these two teams, which the Mustangs took, 44-6.

The loss was the fourth in a row for Vasquez.

In a non-conference game next week Santa Clarita Christian (2-2) takes on Keppel, and Vasquez (0-4) will go up against Boron in a Desert Mountain game
